Need Help - Connecting a Router to ADSL.

Hi, I'm having a really hard time figuring out why when I try to hook up my router to replace my switch it will not connect at all.
I know my ISP limits me to 2 MAC addresses.
Right now I have them registered to my 2 computers hooked up to my switch.
I did try and replace one of the MAC address as the router MAC address and it stuck at recieving address...
Wireless and Lan does not work!

I'm using the same cables as the ones I'm using with the switch so I'm sure its not the cables.

Router is the Linksys WRT54G.(brand new)

Why don't you call their tech support and said your old NIC died and give them the MAC of your router? Then use NAT for the rest of your fleet.

First, between your DSL Modem & the Router you need to use a Standard Straight Thru Cat 5 Cable
Then, in the Router, on the Input RJ45 Port, set the IP address to match the hard ip
address coming from the ISP DSL Modem (it would help to know the Modem Make & Model & the ISP)

See this on page #25 from your Router Manual .. you Must Set both an IP, Password & DNS Server Address (get this from the iSP)

You also need to set the Router to Automatically assign IP to the computers via DHCP
Your NIC cards on the pc's must also be set to obtain the IP address via DHCP

I followed the Setup from the CD and it wont get me to the page where you enter the PPPOE info. It says unable to connect even though the Internet, power and number 1 are light.

The Router's CD Setup are kind of "lame", may be it is a good time to learn how to manually configure the Router.

It does not take more than 20min. the first time, there is probably a pdf file on the CD.

Might be that your TCP/IP is set to the old extrenal IP and thus your computer can not conncet to the Router.

Try to run one time the TCP/IP Repair.
