Need Help Connect Win9x to XP/W2K "IPC$ - error"

Help NT guru out there

This should be a common problem

I'm running XP, with Win98 on the second computer

XP can connect to 98 just fine, but the reverse isn't true

While win98 see all the "share fild/folder," it refused to connect with "IPC$,,,,must supply the password"

The problem is that whether I enable passord in XP, I still can't connect to it

I also enter the Admin password I used to setup X, but it still refuse to connect

Any why of by-pass this security????

On the Win98 PC.

Start > Run > \\PCNAME\C$ assuming C$ is a valid drive).

$ indicates a "hidden share" which are enabled on Win2K/XP.
Also make sure the Win2000 PC has a User set up with the same user name/pass that the Win98 box uses and 'Guest' access is enabled.

That?s a very sparse expiation. I really suggest you read the FAQ that Anandtech has provided for more help.
