Need help, conflicting temp readings

I have an E4300 OC to 2.4 and a DS3 rev 3.3

Pic of Temps

OK, so I have core temp .94 and .95 and obviously they are reading 15 degrees apart. TAT is also reading closer to .95 But what I don't understand is why the temps are this high on idle.

I am using stock cooling, but which reading is correct? I just restarted to check the temps in the BIOS, and the CPU temp was 35 if that means anything.

Until today, all I was using was coretemp .94 and was about to push further, but seeing these higher temps, I am tempted to pull back some. Which one is correct? Also notice that .95 lists it as a Conroe-2M for some reason.

BTW: I know that Coretemp .95 is not 100% accurate because when I stress it using ORTHOS, it reads the temp as 72 degrees. I have my BIOS set to warn me/shut down at 70.

Well...I don't know if this will completely answer your question, but I do know that the BIOS sensors and CoreTemp display very different temperatures on my system also; at idle, SpeedFan displays ~32C from the BIOS sensors, while CoreTemp .95 shows 22-24C. Temp readouts are going to vary depending on their source...so don't worry too much about them unless it's affecting stability or the such.

By the way, you might want to consider an aftermarket heatsinnk for your CPU; something like an Ultra-120E will reduce temps considerably for not too much $.

As for Conroe-2M I think that it could be confusing your chip's core with the 2MB Conroe cores (e.g. E6400).

Hi! I hope the LSU part of your screen name means that you are from Louisiana State University, because I'm too. Anyway, have you tried SpeedFan?: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php. It gives CPU temperature close to that of the bios. I agree with 966GT2 in getting an aftermarket heatsink/fan. 2.4GHz is not that much of an overclock for the E4300, so I think that the temperature is unusually high.

Yes, I graduated from LSU...

I ended up ordering a Freezer 7 pro HSF, should come in by the weekend(I hope). I tried speedfan also. Basically, speedfan/coretemp .94/program that came with the MOBO, show temps about 10-15C lower than TAT/coretemp .95

Seems from what people have said, speedfan and those other ones I said, are wrong and TAT is more accurate. That would mean I was running at close to 70C at load.
