I have a server in my basement running Win XP Pro SP2 and it has Symantec Client Firewall. I use the server mostly for sharing media to my 360. Right now the only way for the 360 to access the shared media is for me to disable the firewall. I have the proper IPs allowed by the firewall but that doesnt seem to be working. Does anyone have any experience with the Symantec firewall and have any ideas as to what I need to configure?

not sure which exact version you have, but usually you have to go in there and allow the windows file sharing to be enabled to allow access.

Having run into similar problems at work, you need to tell us exactly what Symantec products you are using. In my case, I have been using Symantec Corporate Anti Virus for many years with generally good results. This year when I renewed, I got Symantec Endpoint Protection ver 11 that turned out to be a package of three programs - antivirus/some crap/firewall - if you install the whole package in an "unmanaged" setup - you get all kinds of problems some pcs can connect to others and some cannot. I had to go back and uninstall - and this is a problem in it self, third party uninstaller may be needed, though the uninstaller from Symantec worked - and do a custom install of only the antivirus and nothing else. There are plenty of heart rending stories on Symantec's forums on this issue.

Symantec Client Security with firewall version 8.6. Its; security, anti virus, intrusion prevention ad blocking.
