That's not the good GSkill. You want the HZ.

If this is a workstation, why bother?

What are you gonna do with those? RAID them? If so I'd go with a proper RAID-5 controller card. You could use some of the money you would have spent on the graphics card, should you choose to downgrade it.

nope im not gonna raid them it just was cheaper to buy these drives then 2 500gb drives I just want the storage.... is that ram going to fail on me....is there better ram for that money? and the videocard i do play an occasional game now and then but what videocard would you suggest i have a 22 inch viewsonic lcd 5ms right now dvi

No, it's not going to fail on you, that's not what I meant. It's just you said you were going to overclock, and it's not overclocking RAM. No idea if there is better for the money, as I'm not American, and I don't know your prices. I know good RAM is expensive though.

Well I guess if you're going to play 3D games, you need a good card for that monitor. You know the GTO is the lower model x800 though don't you? There may be better cards out there for you.

well one thing you might consider is an ATI x1600 or at least an 1xxx series they can help out with video acceleration if used with the proper software.

Yea I guess... depends what you want it for... you should really read some reviews and work out exactly what you want instead of just picking by price. Anandtech does good reviews of the latest cards.

also i was going to overclock the core2 duo does that mean i have to overclock the ram too sorry im new to this

No you don't have to overclock the RAM - if there are good memory dividers on the board you are using then you should be able to run just about the same speed you started with.

I just assumed you would be overclocking CPU, bus, and RAM, and maybe graphics, as that's what most people do to avoid bottlenecking the faster subsystems.

If you don't quite get what I mean by all this, you you should do some reading on overclocking.

is this card better

It's a bit better, but why are you looking at such old cards, anyway? An X1600 XT, and a 7600GS will spank both of those cards, without breaking a sweat, while giving you the new features that come with newer cards. They both cost slightly less, to boot.
