Need Help Configuring My SMC Barricade Router

Hi, I am trying to install a SMC Barricade SMC7004ABR but I am having some problems.

My ISP is PacBell/SBC Global (DSL) and everything worked fine when I connected my laptop directly to the DSL modem. However, when I tried to hook everything up through the router, it wouldn't work.

I have a Acer Travelmate 613TER laptop running Windows Me. My network card is "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)."

I have tried resetting my DSL modem by taking out the power for a minute, but that didn't work. I have tried releasing my IP address as well. I have all of the necessary protocols installed. Automatic search for proxy is off, use DHCP to find IP is on.

As far as I can tell, all the software settings on my computer are correct, but I am not sure if the router is set up properly. I followed the manual for the most part, but there are some settings I don't know how to configure. Specifically, do I need to know the domain host and the DNS server or any other information I must obtain from the ISP?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

are you able to ping the router? for ex, all Linksys use default IP of 192.168.1.1

if you get a ping that means you're comp is connected to the router but when there, the probs arise...

is your isp implementing a dhcp network? if so, you should not need to plug in that info. here in NJ, my provider (comcast) uses a dhcp network, so i did not need to put any of that info into the config on my barricade. if u r not on a dhcp network, then u might need to call up your isp. i dunno if they will give that info to u tho (since most ISP would rather you pay then extra to share internet connections). if anything, what you can do is hook the dsl modem back into your pc directly. then run "winipcfg.exe". you should be able to find some of the info u need from there. good luck dood!

just a quick question.
did you uninstall the pppoe drivers that you were using berfore you got the router?
if they are still installed and bound to the network card, your network will not work.
also be sure that tcp/ip is installed and everything is set up for dhcp if you dont have a
fixed ip address
