Hey guys, I had a problem with a certain computer awhile back where there was a problem with either the CPU socket or CPU itself. Anyway I RMA'ed the board to ASUS, and instead of repairing it they replaced it(different serial# on the board).
Anyway so I as I'm putting together this board I used the same CPU that was questionable whether it was still alive from the last incident. I replaced the HSF with a zalman one that was a little bit too big where on one side, one of the capacitors surronding the socket is bent. But not seriously bent, but noticeable. I hope this isn't a problem?
So I installed 2 sticks of memory in the 1st slot and 2nd slot desginated by the manual of the board.
Then I plugged in a video card... connected the ATX power supply connecter to the motherboard and also to the ATX12V1.
I turned on the switch for the computer and the motherboard light goes on, the case power LED goes on. I press the power switch on the case, nothing... No fans, no beeps, no display.
Things I've tried so far...
Different power supply plug
Checking the power switch pin, flipping it different ways
Cutting the memory sticks down to 1, tested both sticks on the memory slot 1...
Removing all memory sticks and video card, just cpu and motherboard
Checking and clearing the CMOS Jumper...
Tried a different power supply... Funny thing though on this other power supply only my motherboard light went on not my case light, but either way it still wouldn't boot the computer
All this and still no fans will turn on, no beeps.
The farthest I've gotten is the lights going on.
Now I'm kind of certain it's not my power supply... the motherboard just got replaced, but maybe they sent me a dead one? But why would the motherboard lights go on? And I was told even my CPU is dead, fans would still move and beeps would sound...
So I am stumped guys, I really need some help!
