Need help- computer locks up

At the school where I work there are many computers that are having lock up problems. The cpu is an Athlon 600 (slot type) and the power supply in the case is a Component Pro 250w power supply. The computer works fine but has lock up from time to time. I cleaned the dust out and that did not help. This has happened for the last several years but has gotten worse this year. What could be some causes? Thanks!

In your case it is probably heat or software/driver/OS corruption. Do all the systems run basically the same OS and Software? I don't know about the specifics of your area but it has been one long hot summer here. That could explain why it is happening more lately.
Blowing out the dust on the inside may have helped some but you also need to clean the dust out of the Heatsink fins and make sure the intake areas/fans are not partially blocked by dust. You could experiment by leaving the side of the case off of one for a period of time to see if the lockups still occur. If not, you have your answer. If they still occur, then most likely it is software or corruption related.
