Hey guys! My buddies and I are in the process of creating a local business that specializes in home and small business computer solutions. We are focusing on installing and configuring wireless routers and devices, setting up networks, virus/spyware removal, system restorations/reinstalls, and just help and service in general.

We would want something that reflects friendliness if possible, something professional, possibly funny/charasmatic, and/or makes people feel secure about their decision to hire our services.

In regards to the question "Well, am I really going to get my money?", I can only promise you this as I'm a former Boy Scout and I have great HeatWare feedback.

If you guys need more information on our company background, just give us a hollar! We'll be watching this thread for the next 45 minutes or so and will check it out tomorrow as well.

Give us your best shot! Feel free to improvise on other's input.

Thanks!
~Travis

CompSolutions

That sounds pretty generic.. probably taken, but hopefully not. I'm too lazy to check.

I guess add NetSolutions too.

Word of advice: Avoid geek slang and tech talk in creating names. Anyone that gets the pun or knows the slang is probably competition, or at a minimum not a customer.

You want happy and upbeat?

How about just something like "user friendly" or more simple "computer friendly"

Not sure...if you're possibly implying that we may not have a business plan, we do. :p We've done a lot of research over the past year or so and have analyzed a lot of tactics, marketing plans and possibilities, and business organization abilities.

One of your tactics is to assume that 35 positive Heat references insures the success of your business?
How old are you guys? Are you related to Bill Gates?

Heh, I wish I was related to Gates. ;) This is not a 'tactic'...we're just running thin on possible ideas for a name, that's all, nothing more, nothing less.

As for age, we're old enough, let's put it that way. :p

What kind of name are you looking for? A name that is made up of standard words or a completely new word (like Anandtech)

I did something like this last summer. It was fun, but a lot of work as well. Most of the calls were easy, but I had an occasional off-the-wall issue (I remember one old lady wanted me to fix her slow computer, but wanted to keep all the "nifty" adware toolbars and programs she installed...she even paid to put some of that crap on there).

It was crazy how many computers I fixed by simply running Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Antivir, and a few other free spyware/malware/antivirus utilities.

Market is flooded with stuff like this now. Not only official businesses, but a lot of moonlighters like me as well (high school/college computer nerds).

Cheers, and good luck.

BTW, my [unofficial] business name was: $xx/hr Tech Support. Not very catchy, but it worked well in all the print/online classifieds.

Are you guys going to have a storefront, or just in-home appointments? What's your location if you do have a storefront? How about pricing?
