Need help chosing GPU for BenQ monitor, thanks

Hi guys,

I need help choosing a a good gpu for my monitor, thanks!

This is my second post, so I hope I dont break any rules.

My setup (not bought yet):

CPU: Core i5 I5-6600 3.3 GHz
PSU: Corsair VS Series VS550
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 1 x 8 GB (2666mhz)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO MZ-75E250 250 GB
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO Processor
Case: Fractal Design Define R5
MoBo: ASUS B150M-A

GPU: MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G (4 GB)
Screen: BenQ XL2411Z

If you want to take advantage of the 144 Hz in games, you're going to need a very powerful GPU. However for regular 60 FPS gaming at 1080p, a 970 is fine.

Thank you for you answer. I Really like the idea of a 144 hz monitor and I wont be playing high demanding games graphic wise. I hope it wont be a problem.

144 Hz is useful even if you can't reach anywhere near 144 fps. Even 60 fps will look smoother and have less lag on 144 Hz than on 60 Hz, and you can freely go below and above 60 fps without fear of stuttering (due to Vsync) or excessive screen tearing (if not using Vsync @ 60Hz).

Also, GTX 970 is a powerful GPU that allows you to play many games at well over 60 fps on maximum settings, and even the most demanding games will run over 60 fps when you lower settings appropriately. So yes, that's a good choice for that monitor.

What do all of those cost and where are you buying them from?

Stay away from VS series power supplies, they are the lowest quality units Corsair makes, and not worth buying unless dirt cheap. Some good alternatives at a similar price point: Seasonic S12II/M12II, XFX TS series. Usually EVGA G2 series is worth the extra cost for a build like this.

Buy RAM in a 2x4GB kit so you don't lose performance due to lack of dual channel. 2x8GB is worth considering as it ensures you don't have to upgrade RAM in the foreseeable future. If you can find 2133MHz for significantly cheaper than 2666MHz, go with that instead, as the B150 chipset won't support over 2133MHz memory frequencies anyway.

The case seems a little expensive (usually over $100/100&#8364. I would shave $50 off the case and buy a better PSU, RAM and/or motherboard.

Agreed with all of this. Definitely do not go with only 1 stick of RAM.
