It's the time of the year for me to upgrade my pc. Currently I have ATI 9500 Pro 128MB and originally bought it for gaming about a year and a half ago. I haven't been playing games on the PC and only used it for downloading and video editing. But for in the future, I need something that will handle majority of games out now or coming out, just if I decide to play them. I'm looking for a video $170 and under. Preferably something at a ATI9600 128 level and above. Thinking about finding an AIW9600, 9700pro, 9800, or 9800pro all 128mb in this price range. But I don't really know much about Nvidea. Which video card would yall suggested I get? Thanks for your help.

I'll assume AGP? The AGP 6600GTs might be a bit too rich for your budget, costing around 250 right now. Should come down to around 200 in a few weeks though. Until then, I'd say a 9800 Pro is the best choice.

9500 Pro is still a great card. I would keep it if I was you. None of the cards for $170 offer enough performance to justify switching IMO.

If that's true I think I might keep it, but don't know yet. So really the 9800 pro won't give me much of the Performance increase. I guess I was just looking towards the future when the 9500P would only be worth $50 and then I would have to spend more on a new card. But then again, the prices of the other cards would go down also.

For $170 you won't get much faster than the 9500 pro (9600 is worse). If you wait and get the 600GT, that would at least be significant. Otherwise, just use the 9500.
