Need help choosing / setting up a laptop with a wireless printer

Hi
I want to help a friend choose a system but I have little
experience with laptops & none with wireless printers.

Needs
A decent budget laptop ( WinXP 512mb, CD burner, )
wireless printer stuff ( I don't know anything about this )
printer ( that can use cheaper generic ink )

This is a Home system that will see occasional use.

What do I need to look for in a laptop so that it can be linked
to a wireless printer.

I have seen wireless adapters, network printers ,bluetooth etc.
Don't need anything elaborate. Just a small printer
on the table with the laptop in a drawer until needed
with no wires.

Any recommendation of components "brands or models"
Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks n advance !..........Rick

There are two issues involved.

1. Laptop ? Almost all new Laptops come with Wireless built in, and the Wireless is an Ehternet standart that fits any device (like printer) that can be made Ehternet compatible.

So actually it is Not an issue.

2. Printing.

There are few solutions and the right one depends whether your friend has more computers, and how (if) he uses the Internet?

I have exactly that type of system for my laptop. Like was said, it is an HP Pavilion dv1000 and has built in Wi-Fi.

I just got an HP6840 DeskJet printer that is also Wi-Fi as well as Cat5 Ethernet. It was a bargain at Office Depot.

6840

It was on sale for $159, and I had a $35 credit. Couldn't pass that up. 🙂
