Hi,

I need help/advice choosing a new 4k monitor. I currently have a 27 inch Asus 1080p monitor and I love it. Nothing wrong with it. I just want to join the 4k world with my computer as I have with my tv.

I've done a good amount of research on my own but I of course don't know everything and it's nice to see if people have certain experiences with things.

SO, I want a fairly large monitor. Between 40 - 49 inches [unless the deal is too hard to pass up and I can get some 55 inch tv that is amazing]. I have read that at this point in time tvs have came a long way that you can just purchase a nice 4k tv with low input lag and you'll be fine. I'd like some thoughts on that.

I use my monitor for work and everything in between so clarity is a big concern for me. Crispness of the text and how good that looks. WHICH I just watch a review on a monitor I am interested in and apparently it doesn't have the most crisp text and such [perhaps someone can comment on it]

First monitor I am interested in [the one that apparently has crispness issues] - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAD6H6DK4449

2nd monitor I am interested in - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6ZP49G6764

So again, any thoughts are very helpful, or recommendations or advice.

Thanks for your time!!

As far as I know both of those use the same panel. Though there IS a new Phillips 43" 4k using a VA panel instead of IPS. It's the newest and at least on paper, the best 43" monitor currently available. The Phillips 436M6VBPAB.

I own and use the LG 43UD79-b and it has prefectly fine text crispness.

No problem, if you have any questions about the LG in particular, feel free to ask.

Will do, I am not buying right now, most likely in December, but I wanted to ask around now and know what I'm buying, lol. Thanks again!

I'm also lusting after that philips 80Hz 43" 4k monitor (with Freesync). Personally I wouldn't go above 43" 4k because the PPI is already bordering on my low end for "monitor" usage and viewing distances. Though your needs may vary..

Yeah, I have no reason to go above 43 inches. Even 40 is fine. But yes, I agree with that.

Unless you sit 5+ feet away from your monitor I'd advise you to stick to 27", 32" max. I've seen 32" 4K monitors, and they're just too big to be a primary monitor from my typical desk sitting distance. Anything bigger would be too much of a pain to use.

I disagree, having used a 43" 4k monitor at about 2.5 feet for over 6 months of daily use at this point.

It isn't for everyone, but the pixel density and viewing distance make it perfect for my use.

Well if I could get away with less I would but it's either get another 27 inch monitor and then I have two or just get one 40-43 inch monitor. It's for work and business and the real estate on one screen will make it much better for me.
