The CPU is an AMD Athlon 1500+.

I need a motherboard that supports SDRAM memory and has onboard sound and video.

Preferably one that I can buy from newegg.

Can anyone suggest a motherboard for me?

Thanks.

I have narrowed it down to two boards:

MSI KM133A (MS-6340) PRO VIA KM133A 266 MHz FSB MICRO-ATX MOTHERBOARD - RETAIL UDMA 100, 3-PCI, 2 DIMM, 1-AGP, On-baord S3 Savage4 VGA and AC97 Audio. P/N# MS-6340M-070 (V. 3.0).

and

Biostar M7VKS mATX Vid/Snd (Via KL133 chipset)

These are the least expensive motherboards I could find. The MSI motherboard looks like it is on AMD's recommended list while the Biostar mobo is not. According to the place where I found it, it does support the Athlon XP 1500+ CPU.

Can anyone comment on either of these boards? I know the chipset is not the best (in fact I imagine that it is at the opposite end of the spectrum), but will this cause errors/lockups/crashes or just hinder the performance of the system?

I am trying to keep this system as inexpensive as possible.

Please help me with your comments.

Looking at newegg.com both of those boards are out of stock. I'd pick the MSI board out of those two. It was 80 bucks. I personally would get the ECS K7S5A, its 57 bucks, and it has onboad lan. I know it does not have integrated video, but you can pick up some older ATI cards for 20 bucks, or take a real step up from a savage 4, and drop 50 bucks on a raedon VE, with flat screen monitor compatability, tv out, etc. that would be
57+50=107, only 27 bucks more than the otherboard, and you get tv out and better quality video, plus onboard lan.
just my 2 cents
