1. Thermalright ultra 120 with sunon 120mm fan
2. Thermaltake big typhoon vx
3. Zalman CNPS9500 AM2 CPU Cooler
4. the blue orb 2

which one cools better??
which one do u recommend

The Thermalright Ultra is considerably better than the Big Typhoon:

They actually use the same fan for comparing different heatsinks in this review and the Ultra beats the Big Typhoon in every way.

The Scythe Ninja shown there is even better than the Ultra though, and the Scythe Infinity is again better than the ninja, but not reviewed there.

As for the Zalman, if you choose a good fan for the Thermalright then it will be better.

PS: The Big Typhoon is a good heatsink nonetheless, got one myself^^ The others are jsut better

Of those dogs...

Thermalright ultra 120 with sunon 120mm fan FTW! 😀

Gawd, all of those choices are sooooo 'last year'... whatever!

You've judged wisely! 😉

The fan depends on what you want to do with it. If you don't want to extreme overclocking, then a Nexus 120mm is great, that's actually the fan they use in that review.

These are actually made by Yate Loon, any Yate Loon 120mm fan will also do nicely, and those are somewhat cheap than the Nexus branded ones, if you can find them.

Svc.com actually has Yate Loons, this is the same as the Nexus, just cheaper. The fact that they list different CFMs for them must be a mistake.

Second question first... big difference!

First question second... You cannot change the fan on a Zalman, so it's a moot point... 😉

Doesn't matter what fan you use as long as you can tolerate the noise and keep the CPU at a good temperature. I would personally vote for Yate Loon D12SL-12 fans... good amount of airflow for very little noise mmkoi

Where are you planning on getting the heatsink? You want to try to get the fan and heatsink from the same place. You'll save money on shipping.

For instance, if you were getting the heatsink from one place but they don't have Yate Loons in stock, check out their other fans. Otherwise the YL will cost you around $10-$12 with shipping, and that blows the point of getting one of these inexpensive, but good performing fans.

Let us know if you're ordering the heatsink from someplace that doesn't carry the YLs and we'll take a look at the other fans they have available.

EDIT: jab-tech.com is the place to go.

Good choice, the thermalright Ultra 120 is a great Cooler.

If you care about looks, get an LED fan. I use a thermaltake Blue LED fan and it is beatiful. I only run it @ 1500 RPM which is very quiet. It can run @ 2600 RPM (very loud) but it makes very little difference so 1500 RPM it is.

and what type of fan would you recommend for overclocking
and is there a big r small or verysmall difference between the 1st and second place winners???

define big difference??
I am of the opinion and have been of the opinion for a very long time after using and owning most of what are considered the top heatsinkls that there really is not #1 top heatsink.
Based on watching people post and such saying things like I hooked up the 9700 or the Big Typghoon and there was no duifference in my temps from the XP120 or whatever aftermarket heatsink they had previously purchased!!

I will say nthat from system to sytem what works for one person might not be the best solution for thew other person!!

😀
