Question Need help choosing cheap SSD-drive

Hi All

My new build is almost ready, I just need to upgrade my storage.
Looking for cheap SSD drives to replace my 8xHDD

Setup:
Ryzen 7900x
RTX 4070ti
Samsung 990 Pro pcie
Gigabyte x670 Aorus Elite AX
Adaptec 71605

Brands/models I've been checking:
Kingston A400
PNY CS900
Crucial BX500
Crucial MX500

Are there any major differences between these models I should take account for? Depending on the deal the price differences are not huge.

Storage is for hosting photos and ripped optical disks and couple of VMs, so usage is pretty random
 
The Crucial MX500 is definitely the best drive by far out of those you've listed. It's an actual DRAM based drive unlike the others.

If not, what would be the best of the worst?
 
I'd go with the Crucial BX500 next but it's DRAM-less and less endurance. Not a bad drive at all, i've used many of them too.
 
That's not a bad situation, but QNAP just came out with a pair of NAS units, one with 2x2.5gbe and 6xNVMe, and one with 10gbe and 12xNVMe. Not sure about pricing.

The problem with this sort of thing is you'd need 100GE to get the full bandwidth from the drives. Even 10gbps gives you 1/3 of a gen 3 drive in terms of speed.

You can get internal cards that do similar mux-ing of multiple drives across a single PCIe slot as well. Considering OP is using AMD that makes it simpler to do since it doesn't require a PLX on the card itself since the board can bifurcate the slot.

I've seen them come in 8/16+ options as well but, those get expensive quickly. High Point would be the go to for this sort of thing or Star tech.
