hi i'm looking for something about $60, somewhat powerful, can drive up to two 1920x1200 without lagginess. the screens will have many windows open with updating charts and the like. and i may occassionally have 2-4 extremely high res photos open to take measurements or compare features. i'd also like the ability to play some rpg games (probably dx8, dx9 titles) on the weekend.

ideally it would be:
-single slot and require no extra power connectors
-preferably nv

GT240, GTS250, 9800GT, 4670 are some i consider to be minimally powerful. of course none hit the price point, but maybe you all have some other suggestions.

TIA

The fastest ATI card that doesn't require an external power connector is the 5670. It would be a step up in performance compared to a GT 240.

Most of the 5670's are single slot (although the cooler is not - he only said ideally it would be single slot). They can be had for as low as $75 if we're counting MIR's.

MIR's suck though. Without MIR's I think you're looking at ~ $90 for a GT240 or 5670.

MIR is fine. definitely like that newegg deal on the gt240, but the 5670 is tempting. gonna dig up some reviews! 130 is a bit too much for me for a while. thx for the help!

Personally I would hunt real hard for a used 4830. Should be able to find it for less than an 8800GT but it should have similar performance.
