Hi, I'm fairly new to this board and I'm looking for some help building a new system from scratch. I'd like to go with AMD since it doesn't bust my balls when it comes to price, but I'm not sure which board/chipset I should go with. I don't need anything top of the line really, I just know that I can't spend too much money since I've got bills to pay and beer to buy (comes with the typical college life). Maybe $80 on the processor, and up to $120 on the board. Another thing is that this is my first attempt at building my own box, so a board with an easy setup would be nice:)

Any help would muchly be appreciated-

an nforce2 based mobo will be fine
i'd recommend an epox 8RDA or an abit nforce2 board
an asus is good, but i personally don't like it because it usually costs higher

By the way, thanks for the help guys.... I was just checking out the board price comparisons, and I think I will go with an nforce2 chipset. Here's how it's looking so far:

EPoX 8RDA+
Athlon XP 2000+
256 MB DDR 2700

Just one more thing to get.... a power supply. After reading the posts on here about getting a bad ps and frying everything, I'm kind of worried. Any suggestions?

I hope nothing's wrong with newegg, that's where I'm about to order all of my parts from:0 And I think I've found a case and power supply.... EVERCASE E4252-ABV 10-BAY MID-TOWER CASE 300W PS. Found it on newegg and it had pretty good reviews and for only $36 I figured I can't beat that.
