Hi!

I am building my long awaited system. I have narrowed it down between 2 PSU's:

1) ETASIS ET850 ATX12V / EPS12V True 850W, Max 950W Power Supply - Retail

2) PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (Black) EPS12V 750W Power Supply - Retail

The price difference is about $10.00 at newegg.

The components are:

Case: CM Stacker 830 Evo.
Heatsink: Thermalright 120 extreme.
Case fans: Yate Loon 120mm.
CPU: Intel Q6600

Thoughts?

What video card will you be using? Seams like you are shooting a bit high. Unless you are running a pair of high end video cards you shouldn't need a PSU that large.

Quality 500 watter with +32A @ 12VDC rail is more than adequate for any single GPU rig. Antec Earthwatts 500 is a Sesonic PSU. It was on sale @ NewEgg earlier this week for $35 AR.

Unless you have dual processor (not related to the cores) and dual video card there is no reason for such an overkill. Are you really aware of power usage within a PC?

Corsair HX520 or HX620... the two you picked [and a lot of the other suggested ones] are so overkill it's not even funny. The HX520 can run a quad and 2 x 8800GTX 100% stable... you won't be needing 750/850W.

Dude the power is cleaner on both the units vs, the ones you listed. Its not just about Amperage, its also about ripple, noise and Line conditioning. If you overclock, ripple and NOISE play a HUGH role. Also its NOT The 520HX that can handle that. Corsiar showed off the HX620 on the overclocked Quad + 2 X 8800GTX.

PCnC 750 and ETASIS are both TIER 1.

Its like comparing a BMW750 IL to a MBENZ S600.

Personally i like ETASIS because there industrial server class PSU's. Meaning corporations will use them on mission critical servers. I dont see many PCnC's used in that situation.

Id go with the ETASIS. I have one when they were on sale for 149.99 On my NAS Its pushing 3 x 750GB Seagates 7200.10 SATA 3x750 Seagates 7200.11 SATA, 1x500GIG IDE Maxtor, 1 DVD-RW, 7900GT, X3220 @ 3.6ghz always loaded, and my watercooling setup.

And the system hasnt reboot, or given errors on my WU's on bionic. So id say its a DAYAM good PSU.
