Been out of the game for quite a while. Need a card for a new build. Will only be running older games such as quake III, NOLF2, NFS Porsche Unleashed, UT2004, Splinter Cell, MDK2, stuff like that so I don't need anything super fast. 2 cards I am looking at right now are the eVGA 7600GS and the Leadtek 6600GT. Both are 256MB cards with the 6600GT having DDR3. Thanks

AGP or PCI-E???

If you have a PCI-E, then I would suggest a 7600GT (a lot of bang for your buck).

If you are running AGP, then I would go with the 7600GS.

Or from the ATI side of things, a 2600 Pro? (hell I'd nearly suggest a 2400 for those games! $50 or so)...

I recently sold my 7600gt in fs/ft for $65. I did a lot of research b4 selling and that seemed to be the going rate for them used. it was a great card but I'm playing a lot of modern games that require more gpu horsepower. I can't imagine that you would beat that price on a new 7600gs or 6600 gt. btw, the 7600 gs is a better gpu than 6600 gt, so go for that if you want new and it's down to those 2 cards.

The 7600GS can be had for about $75 to $80. The 7600GT will cost you between $10 and $15 more but will give you much better performance. The 7600-series GeForce cards are much better than the 6600GT. They are more efficient, produce less heat and are faster, plus they will play all of those games mentioned very easily in high settings.

Thanks all went with the 7600GS for 50.00. I didn't see any 7600GT available right now, but since the GS has passive cooling it will prolly work out a little better.
