For my new system I have choose this so far:
e6400
Asus P5b
patriot 2b 5300 ram
enermax liberty 500w PSU
But I cant decide on a video card. I want that will last till DX10, which is also why I want something around $200 since all current cards will be extinct more or less once DX10 gets here. So with the research I have done so far I have narrowed it down to these:
Sapphire x900xt 256 mb
I have heard this card is incredibly powerful for the price, but runs really hot and requires alot of power. $240 is also most likely the max I would go.
eVGA 7900gs KO edition
This does better then the 7900gt(when its running at stock speed) but doesnt have the performace of the above card. But it also eats up less power and has more pixel pipelines.
I'm totally stuck between these 2 and any advice would be much appreaciated. The x1900xt is supposed to be a really great card, but the evga has the much better warranty.
[somewhat off topic] I'm also looking for a dependable online retailer thats not located in california. I LOVE newegg due to their selection and customer service but the $80+ I'll be paying in CA taxes is brutal considerring I could use that $80 towards better components from some place outside of Cali.
