Need help choosing a Processor

BD231

Lifer
2100+, Barton, 1700+, I DUNNO WHAT THE HELL TO GET!!!! I'll be using an NForce2 board (probably the 2.0 Abit board), what's my best processor choice at this point, and where should I buy it? I'm out of the loop big time. Barton is tempting because of the cache, and a 2100+ is tempting because of the price, I cant put my finger on either one though. I don't like jacking up voltage while OC'ing, I just like getting as much as I can out of a chip with minimal voltage change.

Is Barton worth the extra Bucks?

Go for an Athlon XP 2100+ with THOROUGHBRED core B, they run cooler than Palomino cores, and you can get them for like $75 at Newegg. Don't forget to get a good heatsink ($15-20) and some AS3 for like $6 there too.

be warned though...

the 0310w's run fairly warm

compare:

2.4 ghz @ 1.8 volts for a wpmw

2.42 ghz @ 1.875 volts for a upmw

both run same temps though the "u" requires more voltage

i also heard that the "x" may run a little hotter as well... i have not tested one of these out yet to confirm...

btw, the conclusionthat the "w"'s run hotter is based upon the fact thati've tested 3 "w"'s so far

<~~😕

Ya lost me guy's, I'd never jack the voltage to 1.85v in any case, to damn hot for the size of my room. Just gonna grab a 2100+ from newegg and see where I get, thanks for the input 😉.
