Need help choosing a P&S for GF

I've been reading around to try to find the best one, but either the site is horribly formatted or the information is outdated like the sticky here.

I need a P&S that is about $150-200 that takes the best quality pictures and pretty good video. That is all.
 
The Canon Powershot is a good choice.

I still have my Canon Powershot A700 (last P&S I purchased before my DSLR).

Everyone I know with a SD1200 is pretty happy with it. I just bought a SD1200 for someone as a birthday gift and they were thrilled as well - it's small, came in a color they liked (they wanted the green one), light, and captures "pretty" pictures.

At 180 on amazon it's not expensive to buy and it seems to go on sale pretty frequently hitting the 150 range.

"best" is a pretty subjective term with photography, but at least on the outdoor and well lit indoor shots the camera is pretty decent.
