need help choosing a live CD

vshah

Lifer
so, her hard drive died, and she needs to be able to use her laptop for basic web browsing, IM, etc. i think a Live CD should tide her over until i'm able to get over there and install a new hard drive for her.

so my question is: are there any live CDs that include the following:

firefox browser with flash support
skype
AIM
open office

plus points for being a small download, and for being SIMPLE to use, she's never used linux before.

i think those four things should cover her needs.

thanks,
Vivan

I would think any linux live cd would do the trick. I liked the pclinuxos live cd, personally, though the new ubuntu probably offers plenty. I'm not sure if any live cd will have skype and aim as part of the package.

Ubuntu LiveCD would be a good choice if she has the RAM on her computer (at least 1GB). It inlcudes all the above except Skype. You get AIM functionality through Pidgin.

I doubt any live CDs have flash support out of the package and it would have to be continually reinstalled since Flash is not packaged directly with most Linux distros.
