Hi...i'm gonna be graduating college after this semester and i'm looking for a new car. I think i've narrowed my choices down to the Honda S2000, Toyota Supra, Audi S4, BMW 330, or a used M3. Im leaning more towards the S4 and the M3. I don't want to buy a car and then have it change body styles...only to have me want the newer body style. When did the M3 and 330 change body styles? 2002? I'm going to be financing the car by the way..and put down like a 10 or 15,000 down payment. Whatcha guys think? M3?? 330?? S4??

What? No Subaru WRX on your list? Almost EVERY ATOT member ends up buying a WRX after asking for car buying advice on this forum, so you might as well test drive one now and get it over with :)

Besides the WRX (Hey, it's a sub-6 second sports car with AWD for under 30K!) I'd choose a BMW 325xi or 330xi. Unless you also have an SUV in your garage, you'll appreciate the AWD when there is snow on the ground. If you want something cooler looking, go for an Audi TT Quattro.

huh huh huh huh uh. Good luck getting a new Supra.

How about the new Nissan Z?

Actually, I'm a sucker for convertibles, as well as Honda's sweet, revvy engines and superior chassis engineering, so they're my choice for your ride. Just be sure to keep a good winter beater on back-up. Seeing a convertible in a snow storm screams "I'm poor, and can't afford to take proper care of convertible."

You have all those choices and you include a Toyota Supra??? ...... Why don't you just get a Ford Focus or something.......someone who doesn't know jack about those cars you mentioned shouldn't be driving one anyways..........

you obviously dont know what you are talking about. A twin turbo supra would be an awesome car to have.

Holy schnikes! You're looking at THOSE cars, you've got $15k to throw down, and you're graduating from college THIS semester?!?!?!?!
You're either astoundingly thrifty, or a drug dealer :)

Of those, I like the S2000, but a 2-seat roadster isn't very useful, especially when you're moving your crap into a new place and all that.
So I guess the practical loser in me would say the Audi or the 330.

Toyota Supra? Heck yeah, it's an overengineered, way to overbuilt car... oh wait, that's a good thing! But...
Good luck trying to find one... the last gen Supra with turbos and a manual tranny? They still go for 20-25K but it's almost a crime to leave those cars stock. You might wanna consider the last gen RX7 as well since it's easier on the wallet.

S4 is definitely a good choice if you wanna finance especially with lotsa room for your passengers and it's definitely liveable in snow... especially with the crappy job they did with snow during the last snowfall in NY/NJ. And if you guys are listing cars that aren't even out... (Nissan's new Z) might as well see if Toyota unveils the ressurrected Supra since this guy seems to like them.

I got a pretty nice job right now and still live at home...so ive saved up quite a few bucks. Would've had more if it wasn't for the stupid ex....i've always wanted a Supra ever since i first got my license. But i'm getting older and want to be able to drive a few friends around if need be. I live in NY so...the cars gotta be for winter too.

You will never get a new M3 with the waiting list.

That's the whole point.

Given the choices, the car is more for style than performance. (though I must say they are not lacking in that respect either.)

The Supra is an old car. Owning one now is like marrying a hooker...not a good choice. It still may be good looking, but its icky.
Audi S4-interesting, better looking WRX (albeit more expensive).
S2000-this went out of style after 2000. (still a great car, but the hype is gone.)
BMW's are driver's cars, but again, given the choices the car you want, bmws are fairly conservative. If you can get an M3, it will probably be a used, non-virginal, type vehicle as well.

If the WRX weren't so damn ugly, it would be the perfect car. Remember if you are dealing with this much horsepower in your choices, traction control does little in deep snow. You need AWD (and with the tires on some of these vehicles, snow tires would be a good idea.)

I doubt anyone who hawks the WRX has actually ever driven one, just regurgitating what they read in magazines. Comparing those tin cans to Audi's and BMW's is pretty misguided, imo. From the sound of your choices, you want a fast car with some practicality. The S4 would be your best choice, it has a twin turbo V6 with AWD so it isn't too slow, and the interior rocks. The BMW would be a good choice too, but options add a lot to the price so your better off with the S4.
Supra's are cool, but good luck finding one that hasn't been modified to hell. Get ready to pay out the ass for repair bills if you get one. The S2000 is a pretty awesome car but probably not that practical. I would just get the S4 to get you some kick-ass transportation, then you can save your money to move out of your parents house and get a place with a 2 car garage, so you can get a Lotus Elise or a TVR or something cool like that.

edit: oh yeah, make sure you get a manaul tranny with whatever car you choose, or the pussy police will pimp slap you ;)

Get the 350Z. They won't be changing the body style on that for a while...
