Hello...
Can anyone give me the steps for changing my drive (system up and running) from IDE1 to IDE3 tp take advantage of the ATA100 feature?? I am not using raid for anything else. I wanted to get this newly built system up and running (it's doing great thanks to help from Forum) before I changed this, but by golly I'm wanting to optimize now.

This post looks kinda old. You may have already done this on your own but here it goes. Get your manual and look in the section on the Highpoint controller as for the steps on entering the highpoints bios (CTRL-H). For the most part it will auto detect, you just need to tell the controller that the drive is bootable. It will make things a little smoother if you enable the highpoint controller in the bios and install the drivers before you move the drive from ide1 to ide3. After you enable the controller and load the drivers, after you power down to move the HD connection, when you're restarting the system go in the bios and set the controller so it is one of the bootable devices. When you restart, you should be set. If you didn't set all bootable devices to the RAID controler then if you leave a bootable cd in the cdrom drive it'll throw your drive designations off (if you have more than 1 partition on your HD). Sometimes my ata zip doesn't pop out and it'll come up as drive D and throw my designations off.

Hi Pedrev, Thanks for reply. Actually, I just posted that last night. So I haven't done it yet. I also was wondering about something else. Seems like I heard that when you go to ATA100 on a KT7-Raid that you lose some on your CPU. Any truth to that?
If you like coffee (your sig) my favourite come from New Orleans. I have a daughter who lives there and that's how I came on it. It is a blend between regular coffee and a little chicory. Called "Community
Coffee." Great coffee. Comes in red bags and available only in NO area. They also have a web site where you can order, but don't know address. A search will get it.
Thanks again for info.
