hey i've been in the market for a new webcam for about $50 and these four have come to mind. I'm mainly concerned with picture quality, not so much about smooth FPS. Which one would u guys recommend?

Logitech QuickCam Zoom Digital Camera - $53
(it says this must be purchased with hardware...what does that mean exactly?)

Logitech QuickCam Messenger USB webcam - $43

Creative Webcam Live! USB Webcam - $47.99

Creative Webcam NX pro USB - $41

any other recommendations? Also i would reallly appreciate it if anyone could give me a link to any image quality stills/sample movies from any of these choices. Thanks in advance.

Food for thought
A lot of capturing software these days allows for webcam use thru a digital camera and usb. Google for the software and compatability, if you have a digital camera.

the digi cam i have is a Panasonic SV-AV30...i doubt there is any capturing software for it, i've looked before. Have any specific software that turns digital cameras into webcams?

Don't have the time to search right now, and it's been a while, but if memory serves me, there is a bunch of it. In fact some of them even turns you digicam into a time slice security camera viewable remotely over the web or to record etc. Try "screenalizer" (I think could be one)

well after searching for software i found out that it can't be used as a webcam....so im back to the original plan on choosing between the 4 webcams...anyone?

I have a Logitech QuickCam Messenger. Works pretty well, but the quality degrades quite a bit in low light. My other rig has a Philips PCVC370K, and the quality is excellent, much better than the Messenger. However, there is a drawback: the drivers suck and are very unstable. Luckily, MSN Messenger can use the camera without it's drivers.

I haven't use a Creative webcam for a while, so I don't know if they¡ve update their CMOS hardware for the mid-level products. If you want higher quality, consider some based on CCD technology. Their usually are better.
