Need help buying a dvd?

I don't know what to get i was looking for a multiregion but what the hell that can be passed with regionkiller or any alike program, anyways now im looking for a fast good drive, a lot of people told me get toshiba an like half of the people told me to get pioneer, they got me confused, so really what should i get, pioneer or tohiba or any other dvd?

I don't think you can go wrong with either. The slot Pioneer is cool though.

Find the best deal with either one, and go with it. I think the Pioneers are just a bit cheaper.

If you decide on Pioneer, then just decide on Slot load vs. Tray load. They are the same drive, with the method of loading the only difference.

I thought the Toshiba's were a bit cheaper? Anyways, both are probably good choices. I'm planning on buying the 16x Toshiba myself.

I don't need the drive to be retail right? like is there anything that i need to play dvd's that come only in the retail box??

Retail drive will come with some extra software. Many times a good DVD player such as WinDVD. So, if you need such a program, you will want to look into that.

My pioneer 16x slot loading dvd is so slow to take out cd's it sometimes pisses me off. It's easier I suppose, but not always, can be a pain.

Toshiba's are better IMO. They are quieter, cheaper (at least what i've seen), and for things such as copying CDs and ripping audio, they work a lot better as they read sub-channel data much better than any Pioneer.
