Hey guys!

I need taking a 4GIG Avi file i made and burning it onto a 650mb CD. Is there anyway i can do this?

I know of DIVX encoders and i went to doom9.net, but they have too many encoders there and it is confusing. I tried using this software called Grokester or something and heck, it takes a engineer to figure out that software.

CAn you please help me out?

Should i just compress using mpeg1/2 or mpeg 4? Any advice on software would be appreciated.

Original 4 gigabyte AVI file is only 20 minutes long! And it is 4 gigabytes! I just wanna encode this file into DIVX format or something, unless somebody has any other better ideas to get this file to fit onto ONE cd.

does virtuadub enable me to ENCODE the AVI file with mpeg4?

20 minutes? It must be totally uncompressed.
Get virtdub
Whatever codecs you have installed should show up under the video/compression menu.
Any of them will get that file compressed to a manageable size.
Get a bitrate calculator from http://www.divx-digest.com

its only 20 minutes and it takes up 4 gbs? what is it a video of? Why are you still using 650mb cd's when there are 700 mb cd's out there? Use divx 5.0.3, or encode it using the xvid codec, not sure how to do it, I remember reading something on the internet for it at one time though.

XVID codec is cumbersome. You have to download MP3 codec and all these other crap. I'm thinking about using FlaskMpeg or XMPEG. And no, it doens't have subtitles. This is a hoem movie i made from cutting other clips and converging them onto ONE master copy using Adobe Premirere.

it most likely has the audio as wav, which is why your file size is so huge... so you'll have to compress that to mp3,wma, etc. to bring your file size down along with re-encoding as divx, xvid, etc.
