Okay here's the deal I want to build a small form factor home theater PC. I'm going to use one of the Shuttle boxes so that it will fit on the unit the TV will be on and since it will be a 50"+ flat screen the unit will be no more than 16" deep. So I want the small computer box on there.
Here's how I plan to hook it up.
HDMI from the computer to the monitor.
Digital out of the computer to the digital in of my surround sound processor.
I am currently running an E6400 in my main box and will use this processor most likely at stock speed to keep heat (and noise) down. I'll get a Q6600 for my main computer
I am thinking of getting an ATI 3750 series graphics card for the H.264 video decoding and the possibility of doing some light gaming if I get the urge.
I'm looking at a 750GB drive probably in two partitions. One for OS and the other for storage.
So here are my questions.
Which Shuttle box?
I'm considering this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16856101034 which has built in video which I doubt I'd use
and this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16856101045 which is more expensive I guess because of the P35 chipset.
Any reasons why the more expensive one would be better.
Which ATI 3750 series graphics card would fit in these boxes and which ones are quiet?
I would like to get a digital tuner so I can receive unencrypted digital stations and record them for later viewing. I know the digital TV tuner thing is problematic at this point in time, but with analog getting shut off in a little over a year I really don't want to deal with an analog tuner.
Which operating system?
Any suggestions on a good wireless keyboard and mouse?
I am a pretty experienced builder and as such know that TV tuners, TV out, digital audio out, etc.. can be problematic in actuality. That's why I want to run this by you guys before I make a bad move.
