Hey, something of a newbie to the forums, though I've lurked off and on for a while - anyhow...

I'm working on building a home theater of sorts and have both the room and the other equipment just about locked out, except I've still yet to pick out any speakers - I'm looking to get a 7.1 Surround set, but know exactly jack about speakers or which ones are desirable.
I've budgeted $2500 into the speaker fund, but I've no clue as to which ones to get - Probably some combination of 4 surrounds, 2 fronts and a center, but I've no clue as to what I ought to get.

So, any audiophiles out there? $2500 for 7 speakers for home theater purposes, what's your advice?

Thanks.

a nice set of speakers you can get for around that price, (or even much cheaper if you buy online, but then there are warranty probs) is the klipsch reference series. There are three different series, the 3,5, or 7 (the 3's being the cheapest). These are excellent speakers for their price. I would take a look at them, and go to a local store to check them out. You could spend more, and get a more elite speaker system (JM Labs) comes to mind, but I dont think the minor differences in sound quality make up for the price difference. Further, Im not sure how much you know about 7.1, but it still is not all that functional. Very few DVD's or sound formats support it yet. I have a 7.1 system, but really have no movies that utilize it. hope this helps
