Need help building a network

Hi Everyone, I am in need of some help. My brother and I are opening a medical Clinic with some very specific network requirements. I used to be ok with networks but that was about 13 years ago. In trying to research for this project I start to realise much has changed and the more I read the more I seem to get lost. So I usually run here when I am trying to build a new pc so I figured this should also be the best place to get some sound advice.

There what we are trying to do. We are building this clinic in a remote area (a island in the caribbean) so that already presents some interesting challenges. But lets talk about ISP’s later. Lets talk about our LAN and Wan networks.

So a patient registered to our clinic will walk in with an appointment for a certain doctor. However the Doctors will not be Local they will be doing their consultation remotely. So we need to transfer both video (streaming), Pictures and Data. We are not sure what video conferencing app we are going to be using yet but some of the affiliated doctors have developed their own remote consultancy applications. So they may have to login remotely (VPN).

In addition we plan to expand to at least three sites in the future. So this build needs to be flexable and futureproof because this network is going to grow. It must be very secure to protect customer information. There must be redundancy and we will need to also connect mobile devices so our doctors can use their tablets. We are going to go with Cisco hardware so no need to show me alternatives.

Can you guys suggest a network structure and specific switches, routers and access points. Should we use cat6a?

You can also tell me what other info you may need from me.

I do not know what the "a island in the Caribbean" implies but in the USA Network in a medical setting has to be HIPAA complaint.

I would suggest that you should a consultant that specializing in such network. you do not want your brother ending up with some malpractice issues.

how remote? we talking CONUS to island or just within island? Remote diagnostics have much higher bandwidth requirement than just simple video conferencing.
Where are the xrays going to be stored and where they are going to be viewed? Is it in house or are you subscribing to a service? What about computational horsepower for decryption of said xray? zero-watermarking is expensive.

patient info, are they stored on site, on islan or on CONUS? What level of data security/integrity are you aiming for?

too many questions need to be answered first before you buy hardware.

This x1000. Look up the fines for HIPPA violations if they apply to you. You do not want to mess around with that.

<- Supports clients in both healthcare and banking.
