Need help building a htpc

I pretty much want to build a htpc that can be used as a dvr and can playback high def content such as 1080p mkv files but i don't know where to start. It needs to work with a 1080p vizio lcd thru hdmi. Can someone recommend me a list of parts i would need? is windows media center os best for me? i don't need a blu ray drive. Thanks!

Take a look in the Audio/Video & Home Theater forum. There are a bunch of threads in there asking this exact question. If you don't find the exact answer you could just create a new thread, I'm sure you'll get more replies there. 🙂

could wait for the EEE b204 to be released, that is going to be a great basic HTPC
