Don't know if this thread is in right category.
So i want to build a headless downloader for downloading games from Steam / origin / UPlay.
Also would like to use it to download torrents and other stuff.
I can use my rig for this purpose too but keeping it ON 24 x 7 just for downloading is wastage of energy.

I want a headless solution which takes least power and provides me what I want.

Got some ideas from some good people and
have thought about keeping a nas drive and using an Intel compute stick to do this thing.

Also I was considering raspberry pi as an option but that doesn't run steam.
I would like to have a few good advices on this.
Thanks.

Steam means, basically, running x86. So the compute stick idea isn't a bad one.

Do you already have a NAS? Most of them - even the cheap ones - include a torrent client. But they don't do Steam.

I am unfamiliar with a Steam "Downloader" - how does that get the games to your main rig? Is that a separate application? Or are you just doing this?

I can see the advantage if you're interested in seeding torrents, but is your internet connection really so slow that you can't download the Steam games when you buy them on your main rig?

I don't have a NAS but I am planning to buy one. I would use a software that will keep copying the content from the nas to the main rig.
Actually the speed isn't that slow but not even even superfast. I get about 6 Mb/s downloading.
I usually leave my PC on in night to finish the downloads. I don't download stuff while in day as my other family members share the network too and I have to play emultiplayer games.
