Ok here's the deal, I purchased a BFG 6800oc to use in my KV8-pro with a Via K8T800 Pro.

Problem is, the system would only stay stable if I ran the computer without video card drivers installed. Once I installed the Forceware drivers, the video card would either stop sending a signal to the screen after about 5 minutes of use in windows, or it would let me get through a loop of 3dmark05 and then stop sending a signal to the screen. After a minute or so of sitting with no signal, the computer would completely lock up (num lock key stopped responding). Once this lock up happened, after the restart, Windows would show the loading screen with the horizontally moving blue bar, and then just show a blank screen.

So I tried the card in another computer and all went well, so i assumed the problem was on my end.

So, I went out and bought a new motherboard at the recommendation of BFG's tech support, an Asus K8N-e Deluxe, which has an nForce 3 250gb chipset. However, I was having EXACTLY the same problem as before; Once the video card drivers are installed, screen starts going black, and Windows won't boot.

In both cases i'm able to boot into safe mode, remove the video card drivers, and then reinstall them (which i have tried in both normal and safe mode).

So pulled the video card back out and tried it in my friend's computer again thinking maybe somehow i just didn't test it long enough. Nope, still working fine in his computer. So i pulled my psu out and tried my psu in his computer, still not the problem. So i tried my computer with only the 6800, psu, motherboard, hard drive, floppy, and cpu fan plugged in, but thats still not doing it.

So I have no clue how to fix this, but I'm out a lot of money and I really need to resolve this. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it :)

make sure the vid card is NOT sharing a molex connector w/ a optical drive or fans/lights.

Another suggestion, try to use driver cleaner to clean out all of your previous installed video drivers. Then try to reinstall the new forceware and see if that helps. Also, what's your PSU?

How's the cooling in your system? Have you checked CPU and GPU temps up to the crash? Have you tried running the setup with the side of the case off, and possibly near an open window (assuming it's winter where you are) or with a room fan blowing air at the motherboard?

Well, that's a pretty easy test. Just run Memtest(.org) for 24hrs or more, and look for errors.

well i had the same problem that when i would uninstall the drivers it would run fine until i installed them. i have a bfg6800OC also. i tried the latest beta drivers 70.90 and it fixed it but at the same time i removed everything from my comp that i didnt need to boot with ie, fans, other harddrives, cd-rom, pci cards, cus i have a 430W psu but it is a crappy one so i narrowed it down to it being my psu so maybe that could be ur problem cus even though u tried it in ur friends comp, im sure he doesnt have everything exactly the same as u, maybe he has newer drivers, less fans, less drives installed, better psu, but use a drive cleaner to uninstall the drivers, take off EVERYTHING you dont need to boot with, then install the newest beta drivers, these puppies are power hungry mofo's and make sure its running on its own molex connector

What is your PSU? I don't know about the need for not sharing a power line (mine does) but the psu seems more likely than your K8T board. I have run a 6800 and a 6800GT on my MSI K8T board for a long while now. Stock, OCd, whatever- nV40 likes the K8Ts.
