Need help big time with GTS-V install

Ok, heres exactly what I did. First, I opened my computer and removed my Geforce2 MX400 64MB video card and installed the Visiontek GTS-V 32 MB card and fired up the pc. I then hit the delete key and went into the bios and changed the card memory from 64 to 32. and then saved and exit. Next windows 2k pops up in 16 color mode (which I expected) and said new hardware found do you want to install a driver for it. I hit cancel and opened up the nvidia file. (the 23.11.exe file) the program said do you want to install drivers for GTS/Pro card and I hit yes. It then says you have to restart your pc, which I do and when it turns back on it once again comes up as needing a driver for my video card. What gives? I also tried the 21.83, and got the same problem. Is my card bad? Or do bad cards get no video at all?

Go to add/remove programs and remove any nvidia related entries. Reboot, then try running the setup for the drivers.

I tried that to no avail. one thing is that under device manager it says Video Controller (VGA Compatible), not GTS-V/Pro. also, when I right click on properties for that device it says location is PCI Bus 1. Shouldn't this be AGP? Also, I am posititve its in the right slot, I don't even think it fits in pci slots.

I'm wondering if I somehow left some leadtek drivers for my mx-400 on the system. how could I check for this? I doubt that is right though, cuz when I swap cards it says there is no driver for the leadtek and I need to click on the .exe file. anyone else out there.

let's try my dumb way...

1. install the MX card back.
2. restart your pc and boot into win2k.
3. go to device manager, and reinstall driver to "STANDARD VGA". Click okay regardless what it prompt you.
4. shut down PC.
5. put your GTS-V in.
6. boot your pc.
7. run Detonator driver.

try everything. just want to know one last thing, would I still get graphics with a broken gts? is the 16 color mode running off my soyo dragon +? thanks
