Need help - banned from IRC server for open proxy

Hi there,
I assume some spammer hijacked my IP and was trying to use it as an open proxy considering I am banned from all EfNet servers, some giving this or a similar message:

irc.easynews.com- *** Banned Temporary K-line 14400 min. - detected open proxy, please fix your machines security. [http://dnsbl.njabl.org/cgi-bin/lookup.cgi?query=68.188.90.51] (2007/5/2 20.20)


I have no idea how to go about fixing this problem. I've run all the spyware, anti-virus programs I have on my cpu including Norton, spybot, ad-aware with no luck. I read what was available at the above link and tried google as well. Any ideas?

are you running an open proxy? Have you done any scans to see what ports are open on your box?

Well the njabl page says "This IP was last tested 2005-05-14 18:31:06." so did you even have that IP back then?
