Need help! Asus Chipset fan SOOO NOISY!

Well, it's already starting to stop completely, rattle, and is developing a really low hum that's driving me nuts.


Can anyone with the A8N-SLI (the one with the old square chrome chipset fan) help me find a better cooler. Money is not an issue, but I don't want to water cool. Heat isn't the issue, it's just noise.

I know Asus will send you a replacement for free if you call them. Many people are using the Zalman passive cooler. I put the Swiftech MCX159 on mine just because I liked the way it looks. It is VERY tight w/ the 6800GT though.

The Swiftech MCX159-R is the best heatsink to put on the NF4 chipset. It barely fits with my 7800GTX. But it's worth it.

If you have for a passive heatsink thats the way to go. Zalman gets my vote.

Zalman NB47J - my chipset temperatures dropped 5C from the stock active cooler on my NF7-S, and as a bonus it's silent

If you want the cheaper solution, the Zalman NB47J is fine. But if you want something a little better, look at the Coolermaster Blue Ice chipset cooler.

make sure you have adequate airflow if your going to use the NB47J.

how do i use speed fan to slow down my chipset fan....


i simply don't understand it on my asus board.
