Trying to find an inexpensive board for my backup machine. I have an Abit KT7A in it now, but would like to upgrade to DDR and 333 capability. I saw this board listed on XYZ for $74, and have had good luck with Asus boards in the past, and cant seem to find any articles on this particular board. Was wondering if anyone has had any dealings or has read any reviews on this MoBo.

i just ordered one for 65 on mwave.com i haven't seemed to find any reviews either, or articles for that matter. so i just decided to go on asus' reputation.

I have it and like it. It's very stable. Am not going to o'clock till the dust settles and I'm on summer break but I have had no problems so far!

I was NOT going to use firewire or S-ATA right away and if I do, I'll buy cards; I liked the fact that it included asus-probe which I think the original did not and I didn't care about the fan-monitor option that was deleted. (Q-fan)

Install was a breeze but I have a TB B 2400+ and maybe somebody with a barton might differ

Also - check out googlegear and newegg (I got mine there) for their prices!

Does it have any pinouts for firewire on the MB? EDIT: Nevermind, looks loke the full featured version uses a separate controller chip.

They sell XP 2600s with Barton core? I thought the 2600 was a Throughbred part that runs at 2.08Ghz. Make sure you have the setting on the motherboard to run at a 166/333DDR front side bus setting. And also make sure the multiplier is at 12.5x (12.5 * 166 = 2.08 Ghz)
