Need Help. Asked to be "best Man" at my friends wedding. What to do?

I haven't the slightest idea what I am suppose to do. The duties..like holding the ring? etc

Hold the ring, give best man speech at reception, talk him OUT of getting married

It depends what you make of it but normally:

1. Organizes a bachelor party (or designates someone else to)
2. Holds the rings
3. Makes a toast at the reception
4. Makes sure the groom shows up to the wedding

Depends. The only thing real thing you have to worry about, is a speech at the reception.

That and getting the groom hammered at the bachelor party.

I'm sure I can get something together. I've got till October. I just don't want to embarass him in front of his new in laws.

They're millionaires. The live on a small island off the coast of South Carolina. I just really hope I don't screw it up.

It's too bad too, because his best friend, whom I've met once or twice is still stuck in Iraq. He told me this might happen when he asked me to be some other position, that if his friend couldnt make it because of the war then I'd be his best man.

Google is your friend. Make sure to add some of your own stuff though, other people speeches won't go over as well as something you do yourself, even if you are not a good writer or a good speaker.

Man, I was the best man at my friends wedding and I didn't get any action from the maid of honor... and she was definitely very hot. I guess it's my fault for bringing my girlfriend with me. :disgust:
