I think I made a fatal error - I wanted to add memory to my DP35DP Intel motherboard and commited a number one no-no. I didn't remove power from the board before removing the vid card - removing and replacing memory sticks and reinstalling the vid card. It won't boot any more - well it will enter setup and all setup ADJUSTMENTS EXCEPT HARDWARE MONITORING FUNCTION work as usual. The board does not show the memory additions made. When left to normal boot it quits with the error message "Intel Manageability Engine failed initialization and is non-operational", I tried every thing I can think of including attempting boot with the WIN7 DVD - It progresses to the point of installing the program and blue screens as it attempts to start Windows. The same message soon appears about the management engine.

I think my motherboard is kaput- Am I right - I need to know so I can order a new board tonight. Thanks------Jim J

Whoa fellas - the bad guy be me. After researching on my wife's computer in the online manual for the DP35DP motherboard I found out that an improperly sitted or missing memory stick in memory slot 0 will give you a dead machine for all intents and purposes. I had received no memory errors in the original problem but the manual said the Intel management engine is tied to slot 0 and won't function - just like the error message said and slot 0 is unpopulated. Went back to square one and removed and reseated all the memory sticks (with the power off and the power supply unplugged) and lo and behold my machine was back again as good as new.

My thanks to any out there that may have been trying to find me an answer - but I found one on good old Intel's motherboard support pages. I missed an opportunity to upgrade to P55 with my wife in full support - but I saved some bucks although the Egg lost a sale of a I5 750 and a p55 mobo.
