need help: anybody with a dell computer...

Anyone with a dell computer that needed to upgrade their power supply?

I called theier tech support and they said you need to get Dell's proprietary supply. I tried two atx supplies 250w and 300w (not dell) and they did not work.

Now the kicker: their tech support told me to call their spare parts department to buy one. BUT THEY DON"T HAVE A STRONGER POWER SUPPLY! THIS IS PISSING THE H%#$# out of me. FREAKING I HATE PHONE MENUS AND WAITING!!!

Yep, most Dells use non-standard power connectors, you'll probably hasve to swap the case, mb and powersupply all at the same time.

they are standard ATX...but when i use other ps the computer won't even boot, and power supply just sort of grinds. Not just one, but two.

Thats the power supply.. if it grinds man. Get a good one, shell out the money.

pylorns, What's a good supply? I got an acer 300w which I thought was pretty good...thanks for your help
