I'm in process in building my new computer.
Could anybody give me pinters.
From the front side of the Antec plus 1080amg there are a few cables that are confusing me. I have no idea where to connect them to on my MB (Asus P4C800-E Deluxe)

- gray cable with 9pin port with no label.

- TPA-
- TPB+

- VG
- VP

- HDD
- I
- II

I checked the manual, but i couldn't find the info i need.
Thanks for all the help,

The grey 9-pin one is the cable for the case's Firewire jack, which is shown on page 2-31 of your Asus manual.

The other one is for the LED lights on the front of the case. Of the four LEDs on the case, one indicates that the system is turned on (the green one on the top), the one below that indicates hard-disk-drive (HDD) activity, and the remaining two can be used for PCI disk controllers to indicate disk activity on them.

You want to plug your HDD plug into the bottom-left pins on the header shown on page 2-33 of the Asus manual, then do something to access the hard drive and see if the light lights up. If not, unplug the plug, flip it over, and plug it in that way (LEDs only light up one way). If you don't have any additional controllers, leave the I and II unplugged.

Those are the wires that connect the motherboard's Firewire header to the case's Firewire jack. Page 2-31 of the motherboard's manual shows the pin assignment for the motherboard's Firewire header. My recommendation is actually to use the motherboard's own Firewire jack, the one that comes out the back on a slot plate. No, not as convenient as a front port, but Firewire does not seem to have a standardized terminology for what means what, between the mobos and cases. After trying unsuccessfully to help someone else with this question, even with quite a bit of research behind my answer, I'm hesitant to lead you into that can of worms  You can always get a Firewire extension cable and bring that to the front of the system if you need a handier FW jack.

if those TPAs and TPBs are for the front firewire.. then what is the gray cable with 10-1 pin for?

The gray cable with little 1's and 2's on the pluglets is the front USB. There should be nine (five 1s and four 2s).

I have this case, and the little individual cables are for your front USB and firewire. Mine has NO consolidated plugs though, just tons of little individual cables. I eventually got it all figured out though... It was difficult corrolating between where Antec said to plug it in, and where Abit (motherboard) said to plug it in.

sympathy bump, I spent along time figuring out my 1080 and p4p800

You can figure it all out from the two manuals though (except my hd activity light doesn't work, too lazy to try to fix it :))

as Nebor said, it's a pita doing things pin by pin
