First thing id so is bump up your memory to 1gb. Secondly, if your going to be doing vid editing and storing video and or large audio file on your pc, space will fill up fast, so it might be a good idea to bump up your storage space also. As far as what processor to go with, I think for the apps your running the P4 would be better than then 3000+. For games, the 3000+ would be better. As much as I like the AMD64, id have to go with the P4 due to the types of apps your planning to run.

I mean that for things like 3D modeling, video encoding, etc, the P4 3.0 will normally outperform the 3000+. But when it comes to graphics as in playing games, then the 3000+ would be a better choice. But if it were me, and id be primarily doing vid and audio encoding, as well as 3d modeling, id go with the P4 and 1gb of ram. Theres even a few reviews/test articles here on anandtech that give the performance stats on such applications comparing the 3.0 and the 3000+, amongst others.

You should definetly go with Amd 64's right now. They are cooler and perform better in games and they do compete very well in application (at times outperform intel by a margin).
You will also be able to make a smooth transition to windows longhorn (64bit os.)

P4 all the way in your case Flux. Just about every application you'll be running will run quicker on a P4.
