Need help accessing registy inw XP Home

Trying to access the registry thru the run command (regedit) while logged in as the Admin (This is the only account that is on the machine). When I try to access the registry, I recieve and error stating that I must be logged in as the Administrator. I double check the user settings in control panel and I conform that I am the only user on the system and I have Administrator rights..... This is getting fustrating . . . Any ideas anyone?
