Need help about sending dig. cable sig. to another tv

Going to buy this as a gift for someone to put in her kitchen (top mount flat screen tv). But getting another box, having another cable outlet put in will be a hassle. Is it possible to buy a antenna/box to piggyback off of her regular DVR comcast box? Im new to this, I need your help. And what would be the best box? Its probably 20ft to the bigscreen. I do not want the signal to mess up. thanks for any help.

Well it depends on how Comcast sends out the signal in here area. In some areas you need a box to access the majority of the programming now including locals since it's been ruled that those can now be encrypted. You could just split the signal as it goes into the DVR box and run the cable to the kitchen. You may still need a cable box though.

Depending on what kind of signal you want (standard def or high def) you are going to have to run some cables if you want to piggy back off the DVR.

You can put in an antenna to catch the air waves and that all depends on where the towers are in your area if you will get good signal or not.

I would guess for straight piggyback you could just buy a video transmitter if all you wanted to do was mirror the signal. Search video transmitter on Amazon for ideas.

mirroring the signal is all i want to do. But I wasnt sure they signal could be picked up without a box/antenna of some sort. thanks for your replies. tracey
