Need HELP about engine oil for car

Yesterday I was checking the oil level in my mother's car and saw that it was down. I put in about 1/3 of a quart of regular 5-20W oil. After I told her that I did this, she then told me that she had and has had 100% synthetic oil in the car. For all of you motorheads out there ... I need your valuable insight.

.... She will be going on a trip tomorrow and will be driving about 850 miles. Do I need to get the oil changed before she goes or will it be okay for that long drive?

Your help will be appreciated. Thanks!

It's completely fine. From what I understand, the whole stigma about not mixing oils types is a myth. They already sell semi-synthetic anyway.

Yep mix away, no problem at all. I use Syn in mu BiL's car but top it off with regular oil.
You can even mix weights and brands.
Oil specs today are so tight there is not as big a differance in oil as there use to be.

1/3 of a quart?

Foo...

You didn't even need to add any really, and adding so little conventional oil will not make any difference. No need to change the oil.

Thanks to you all. I totally appreciate the quick reply from everyone.

You've helped to put my mind at ease.

Now, if you need any help with golf, I'll do my best to reciprocate. 😉
