Need Headphone Recommendations

I know there are a bunch of headphone recommendation threads but I have pretty specific needs and I really don't see them covered in any of the previous threads. I have 125 bucks in Best Buy gift cards that I want to use on a good pair of headphones. Anyone care to make any recommendations based on Best Buy's selection? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Recap:

Headphones have to be sold in Bestbuy and under 125 bucks.

Thanks and Happy New Year to all....

Uh..they have a few good headphones..they just charge too much for them.
Out of those there, for under $125, the Sennheiser HD477s.

What will this headphone mainly be used for? Music or movie? Do you want full size or portable? Open design or close?

If it's just casual, you should just pickup a pair of Sennheiser PX100 (open design), or PX200 (close). About the only nice headphone best buy carries is the Sony CD3000, but that's way out of your range.

Would it pay to spend the extra 25 and get the Bose? They are gonna be used for both music and gaming. I never get to listen to my speakers anymore, since my pc is right under my daughters room, so I want the best sound I can afford in a headphone.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Just noticed BB carries the Sennheiser HD595, which is the next best thing to Sony CD3000 in the BB inventory. Too bad it's too expensive too.

Stay away from the Bose overhyped marketing trash, you'll be glad you did.

Stay away from the Sony V600 and V700, those are craptacular cans also.

Now you're basically stuck w/ digging into your wallet to pay the difference for a pair of good cans, or buy something else besides headphones from BB.

Give the Sennheiser PX100 a try. They are foldable and sounds better than almost everything BB has to offer.

buy something from best buy you can sell for a similar price on ebay and then get real headphones from a real store..

What you need is a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-A500 from Audiocubes.com. Only $116 imported directly from Japan.

Try this.

They are Sony's Studio Monitor series. I have a higher end model, the MDR-7506 and am very satisfied with them. I actually put them on competition with the best my school had in the studio and mine were the best. THe only ones close enough were Audio-Technica.
I'm not sure how the MDRV600 series differ from mine, but I bet you can test them.

I've had the HP-X222 for about 4-5 years now. They are an awesome bang for the buck, IMHO.

Right now I have a pair of Sennheiser HD-433's but want more out of my headphones. I have a feeling these Aiwa's aren't any better than those which is why I am looking high end. What about the HD-555's if I can get BB to price match to J and R for 119.99?

EDIT: You need to add them to your cart in J and R to see the reduced price.

I guess another option would be to sell my gift cards to someone for equal value and then buy them from J and R if BB will not price match.

I would get the Koss PortaPro from somewhere else - those are 50$ retail, and 35$ on amazon last i checked. They really are perhaps the most underrated headphones I know of. You save a bit of money, and you can spend your BB bux on something that BB has on sale - like a new harddrive, or LCD screen. Perhaps apply it to a notebook.

I have a tendancy to go thru headphones pretty fast, so I don't spend a ton of money on them. My favorites are the Koss UR20s, which are becomming hard to find. They are huge, comfortable, and sound good enough for my needs.

I had these phones but returned them. Awesome sound quality but so uncomforatble after long periods of use that I just couldn't take it anymore.

The best overall phones you will find at Best Buy (in the store anyway) would probably be the Bose Tri-Ports which are right around $150. If you can use your gift cards online then definately go with Sennheisers (I don't think they sell sennheisers in store, not around here anyway)!!!
