Need hard drive help..

BD2003

Lifer
Just picked up my new drive...like the old one, the new one is partitioned into 5.

So I copied over the files on each drive...for some reason, maxboost didnt recognize the drive properly.

Now I'm not sure how to make the primary partition into the C: bootable. Whats left to be done?

Hi, Don't know what Windows OS you are running so this will be a generic answer. You can not "COPY" the files from one drive to another and expect the new drive to boot and run. You can make it boot eaisly, but most of the programs are not going to run. Many drives come with a program to set them up easily. Those programs usually have a function to "CLONE" the new drive from the old one. That will work as the Clone will be an exact duplicate of the old one. Maxtor drives usually come with a MAXBLAST disk that does the set up and the Clone. There are many others, but I am not familiar with them. Try to download from the new or old drive's manufacturer. Luck, Jim
