need grad school/EE advice

OS

Lifer
I am thinking about going back to grad school. I like computer/digital stuff, but it seems like a dead field these days. You know, stagnating microprocessor industry, more computing power than the world knows what to do with sort of situation right now. Can anyone working in industry right now tell me how things look?

If you're interested in the subject then I don't see anything bad going back to grad school to pursue your love of learning. These things go in cycles -- by the time you get out with another degree, things might be better then.

I don't want to gamble 2 years on a the field might pick up. Even if I enjoy it, if the degree is worthless when I finish, I can't apply it and I've wasted 2 years on it.

I am in a EE grad school program. It is going good so far, I highly recommend it. With the economy these days, having the extra degree can only help.

What do you mean "computer/digital stuff"? You'll need to figure that out if you're gonna go to grad school as an EE (you'll want to pick a field of study/research advisor).

If you're interested in circuit design (especially analog design, but digital designers are in need too), then you'll never have a problem finding a job or getting paid well.

the school I am going to has three options for MSEE, communications, computer and control systems. I am leaning towards computer.
